What was tested in the A/B Test

The A/B test spilt traffic 50/50 between Frankie and a Competitor and was conducted independently using the www.convert.com A/B test suite. The A/B test was conducted on a Shopify Plus merchant with approximately 300 SKUs and the test lasted 8 days. The revenue growth results have a confidence level of 94% or higher. In this case study, we present the findings for Frankie's impact on: conversion rate, total sales and number of items ordered.

With a confidence level of over 74% Frankie increased the conversion rate by 7%.

This is an important result. Conversion rate measures how much of the traffic that comes to your store, successfully converts into purchases.The conversion rate can also be thought of as an efficiently measure. How efficiently do you turn shoppers browsing your store, into 'buyers'.

A/B testing and why it's important

A/B testing lets you measure the impact of making a 'change' on your website. You can determine whether a 'change' makes things better or worse, and by how much. You use A/B testing to improve the performance of your site, by testing your 'change' ideas and then implementing the ones that lift performance.

The 'change' you A/B test, can be anything from a different style of button, to introducing personalized recommendations.

Put simply, A/B testing splits your traffic into two equal halves, and sends half of your traffic to version A and the other half to version B.

By measuring the results from each 'half', and then comparing them, you can conclude which version produces the best results. A/B testing works because it uses the same traffic at the same time to test and compare. The A/B test needs to run until the results are statistically significant.
